The Problem:

Book of Us was first founded in 2019 in an attempt to deliver personalized gifts to adults in relationships. Initially focused on sentimental messaging and imagery the brand’s success started to decline in 2022 and they wanted a total brand refresh.

The Solution:

Turning focus on fun, playful messaging aimed towards a Gen Z audience, Book of Us feels more welcoming than ever.

Starting with the logo design I wanted something bold, and graphic. Using the shape of an asterisk to signify both a gift and the open pages of a book. The color pallette pulls on inspiration of retro design, giving almost a feeling of nostalgia.

What really breathes life into the brand language is the photography style, which focuses on authenticity and celebration!

Along with the rebrand came the relaunch of Instagram, as well as the implementation of a TikTok strategy.

The Logos:

The Book of Us logo is made of modified letter marks of the font Plus Jakarta Sans. The two icons symbolize a gift and a book to reflect our mission to provide customized gifts that make the recipient feel special, with our flagship product being books. These icons  are made out of strokes with identical weights to the letters within  the logo as well.

Figure 1. is great for social media, and even some marketplace profile pictures. This should only be used when the brand name is present alongside the image.

Figure 2. is acceptable to use on printed materials as long as the primary logo appears on that material at least once.

Celebratory & Authentic:

The Book of Us brand is all about celebrating real life! To reflect this photography should feel organic. The stuffy stock photo feel just isn’t the vibe—instead we’ve opted for selfies, candids, or photos that real people would have in their camera roll.
